Grateful

One thing about this time of year that stands out is the decency and truly caring nature in people.

Over the last week, I haven’t met a single person who was unpleasant or rude. I did sneak into the express lane at the grocery store with a couple of items extra and had a gentleman give me shit for not knowing the rules, but we made it funny in the end.

There is a reason the Grinch gave back all the toys and food and his heart 3 times larger that day. He realized that the human spirit could rise above any hardship and that the people of Whoville were happy without all the tinkers and toys.

I am grateful that the human spirit is so strong and resilient, loving and kind.

I’m also grateful for all the people who have crossed my path and offered me teaching, a chance to learn. The funny thing is, many of the people who have helped me grow don’t even know they have. In life, there is no test to take, no pass or fail.

For all the people that have offered me the gift of their time, this is to thank you. Know that your kindness mattered.

You might be family or a friend, a coworker, a yoga teacher or complete stranger. Someone who wrote a book created music or art. Someone who made a film or had a great idea and shared it. Someone that cared for plants and nature so it could be enjoyed.

Someone young or someone old. Someone I saw yesterday or maybe not for many years

Someone who smiled and said hello.

People who simply pop up, ask for nothing and yet give so freely of themselves. Know this was important to me and is always fully recognized.

I send this Christmas blessing out to all of you!

Winter Solstice

Happy Winter Solstice (Yule), sometimes called the Goddess Moon. This day celebrates the lowest point of our sun in the winter sky, the shortest period of daylight and the longest night of the year. It is a time when portals are open, believed to hold powerful energy for regeneration, renewal, and self-reflection.

This is a great time to set intentions and hold space for yourself to receive. Setting an intention with an “I AM” statement (i.e. I AM Courageous) means that it’s already happened and sets the stage for this to come to you.

Be gentle and let these times guide you to strength and newfound potentials for yourself.

Evening Goose

Tonight as I left work I heard a lone goose in the night sky above. She was was calling to the darkness and seemed to stay forever close. Two or three more voices joined her after what seemed a long solo moment. They spoke together, their words long and melancholy. As I stood and looked up, I knew what they meant. I knew they longed to be where the corn grows tall and the sun warms the ponds and sleepy Hallows.

Nature is always so honest, so true!
