This week I watched “The Greatest Night in Pop” on Netflix. And it created the opening for a message I would like to share.

First off, most of you will not know the profound impact music has on me. It’s God’s way of speaking directly to my soul and heart. Many of you may know this yourself.

When I turned on this video I almost immediately had tears in my eyes, and this continued throughout. This documentary looks at the creation of the song “We Are the World.”

I was in my twenties when this all went down. My girlfriend worked at the big FM station in town and I had the inside to everything music. It was a magical time for me as a music fan but it went much deeper as this documentary reminded me. It was a time when people put up their hands and said count me in. It happened slowly, one hand at a time, eventually becoming a global movement.

This story started in the UK with Bob Geldof of the Boomtown Rats who championed the “Band Aid” movement. Going on the help create the single “Do they know it’s Christmas” in support of famine relief in Ethiopia.

What I remember most about these years is the utter helplessness I felt towards the suffering. It was like during the Vietnam War except with daily updates on the news about the famine. Everyone wanted to help but we just didn’t know how.

Then, along came Geldof, and suddenly there was a voice and a movement. “Band Aid” was the tiny snowball that captured the hearts of the entire planet. US musicians created “We Are the World,” and then there were the “Live Aid” concerts that followed.

As the documentary shows, artists set aside their egos settling into what would become a magical moment in music history. Beyond the song itself, we watched all of this become a defining moment of the eighties, bringing real and conscious energy to the planet and those suffering in Africa.

I remember it so well. The mood shifted from hopelessness to a feeling of great empowerment. It was tangible. You could see it everywhere! People’s eyes held hope and inspiration!

So here is the message;

As the documentary finished I felt like my heart had been smashed open. Tears that wouldn’t stop, slowed and the guides appeared.

They told me “You were there (meaning that period in the 80s). Do you know how important that was?” Unsure I let them continue, “Do you know the significance of the role you and others played? Do you understand the connection this has to the big picture?” I said no, help me understand, and was told this. “You think of the ascension in very recent terms, maybe 10 or 15 years but that’s not the whole story. What you haven’t considered is that in the late 80’s the level of consciousness was measured, some link this to the Harmonic Convergence. The measurement was close but the earth showed it was ready to ascend. Are you starting to understand what we are talking about now? The role you played along with millions of others was very important. Those songs and concerts, the music on the radio were the catalyst for the level of consciousness to grow which was necessary for the measurement to be as it was. You have no idea the reality that was averted. You helped seed the movement that allowed an ascension.”

I sat very still and let this land. What I was hearing was true. In reflection, I can’t recall a time in my life that was more impactful or uplifting. Anyone who lived through this period will tell you the same thing. Humanity grew in ways that I can’t describe. We saw terrible things that could have blackened our hearts forever and we said “no!” We said as a group “We’ll hold the line and brave this storm and we did.”

Another guide came in and said, “Do you now understand how big and powerful you are?” We have another message that should be helpful and we hope you take it to heart. “We would like to draw your attention to the earth today. What do you see? Do things look similar to the story we just talked about? If things look out of order that is because they are. What if we told you that another incarnation of “Band Aid” is underway? This moment is here again and we know you will handle it well. We know your history and your strength. Whether through music or something else, you and millions will again lift humanity to new levels. This is not a prediction we offer but assurance. We are here in this moment to encourage you and cheer on the bravery you and others will show.”

“We see the light ahead and need you to know it’s there, just like before. We ask you to remember the way you felt amid those grand moments when the world changed in an instant. You will see this again and you will not have to wait long.”

“Find things that uplift you and do these things every day. Never look aside from what makes you smile or makes you happy.  We see you doing this and it makes us smile too. The hardest work is coming to an end soon.”

“We love you dear one and wish you only knew how much. Smile and befriend yourself and all things and try not to worry. We are right here with you and in time you will know us more and more.”
