Talking Yourself to Sleep

It is so interesting how our busy minds can show up when our heads hit the pillow. Sometimes, it’s about nothing important, or even stressful, just an interesting thought or idea that keeps us awake.

I’m most creative in the evening so bedtime can often still be rich with ideas. Usually, I can take a few deep breaths, close my eyes, and quickly fall asleep. Other times it’s not so easy.

I’ve learned a process (very much by accident) that has helped me fall asleep and would like to share it with you.

Below is what I do.

I was lying in bed ready for sleep and drew my attention to a workplace I knew in my teens and early 20s. I had a part-time job in a school as a cleaner which through high school and college paid a lot of bills. I enjoyed this job and got to know this school as well as anyone could.

At this moment in bed, my mind intuitively opened the front door and I started walking through the main hallway exploring all the features, looking at trophy cabinets, walls, doors, floors, etc. The next thing I know it’s morning and I’m getting up after a great night’s sleep!

The Gift of a Second Chance

My father was starting end-of-life care at an Ottawa hospital and I had just arrived for what had become my daily visit. He was growing less aware and my time with him was becoming more solitary, although it was still nice to be in his company and share this way.

Today I was lucky and able to park closer to the hospital. It was a gloomy, grey day in November with a lick of wind to enhance the understanding of the coming transition into winter.

I pulled my coat together and hunched to maintain warmth as I walked to the crosswalk, and then along the path to the main entrance.

I noticed a man walking in the opposite direction, along the driveway with parked cars between us. He had a cane and was moving slowly and with poor balance. My first thought was “Where could he possibly be going without help as he looked that frail?

By now I was almost stopped, worried, yet excited for every new step this man took. Others were watching too and as he approached the crosswalk I assumed someone closer would assist him. This was not the case. He staggered across the road and up a cut in the sidewalk, gathering himself for the remainder of the journey to his vehicle.

Multidimensional

Some of you might feel like I do on a car road trip. I find it very liberating and freeing but more than this, there is an element of expansion. There is a feeling of connectedness to all in the universe. The road and the feel of moving almost create a magic carpet of experience(s).

I cycle, and today I was out riding trails and enjoying the beauty of this early July day and letting the gentle breeze and sunshine breathe into my experience. The reason I mentioned road-tripping is to help this idea along. I rode at an easy pace, observing my surroundings in the same, easeful way. The more I let go of the world and let it become part of me, the more I sensed these universal openings and connections. I didn’t feel connected to the earth or my bike in a normal sense, and with the air rushing past, I could almost experience what a bird feels in flight. This, along with many very peaceful and light moments, came to me on my ride.

The trail I rode was about an hour ride, and I’m overjoyed and grateful to have spent this time exploring.

There is so much magic out there to explore.!

Meditation for Peace

I start by gradually releasing all thoughts and gently bringing focus to my heart, expanding light here.

Expanding my heart, sensations of warmth and peace are felt throughout my body. I continue to feel this growing sensation as it evolves into a golden sphere surrounding me. Powerful energy is with and I sense the presence of my entire team.

I rise up and into the atmosphere above the earth, able to see through the dark of night and witness the glorious earth below. From here I focus on the Middle East and find myself moving closer to this area of the planet below me.

This visual is amazing! I can see individual people across many countries. I see a beautiful strand of silver light connected to each person below. This strand flows upward through the night sky and connects behind me far out in the universe. This light strand provides powerful illumination for each human and I witness light traveling down to each person’s heart where it expands. This light flows downward through their bodies and feet, connecting to the earth.

The earth is providing powerful energy upward into each human body. This is a brilliant moment to witness as each body glows brighter and brighter. I sense a divine connection as this light pulses and strengthens.

What I see next is interesting. A pattern is drawn around the feet of every person, which looks like a glowing outline that matches the same golden frequency within each person. As the frequency increases within each being, so does the light ring around their feet. This pulsing ring expands outward touching objects, nature, and other humans.

Beech, The Tree of Breath

Beech tree leaves in fall
Beech tree leaves in fall

If you are looking for relief from congestion or simply to open your breath, Beech is the tree for you.

Walking the forest I first noticed this in 2020 and since I have continued to engage with this wonderful tree.

The Beech is found in forests in North America, somewhat less as a tree planted on properties. Its smooth trunk gives it away. It also does not shed its leaves in winter showing a golden color in the forest. Its leaves are almond-shaped with small spikes along the outer edges, reaching 3-6 inches in length.

I noticed this extraordinary gift on a beautiful spring day. It was warm and I stepped off the trail into a small group of trees in the shade. As I placed my hand on a young Beech tree maybe 20 years old I found it cool to the touch. I immediately sensed a wave of fresh cool air around the tree where I was standing and breathed this air in. It cooled my entire body and my lungs allowing more capacity and expansion of the airway. After several breaths, I stepped away from the tree and then back into its space again placing my hand on the trunk. I felt the same sensation which had not been as strong when I stepped away.

Fear (a message from the guides)

Recently I was given some very profound information while also being reminded of a major concept most of us push to the side or may not fully understand.

I was visiting a local hospital and on the way out, stopped for a coffee. It was the dinner hour and eerily quiet. Something in my peripheral vision grabbed my attention. I allowed this to expand and realized it was an energy pattern across the corridor. It wasn’t sure what this energy wanted or was trying to say, it just seemed dull and lifeless.

My first reaction was to call in my teams for more protection and shielding, given the energy in hospitals.

The Magic of Mushrooms

I know quite a bit about the magical properties of mushrooms.

I know quite a bit about the magical properties of mushrooms. The healing potentials many mushrooms have and the benefit their root systems (mycelium) provide to ecosystems they touch.

What I didn’t know about mushrooms but was shown recently in a “dream state,” is how they fully engage with all of nature and humanity.

In this vision, I was shown a simple mushroom on a lush forest floor. It was sitting amongst beautiful tall pines with just the perfect amount of light to illuminate it fully. The scene was as if a movie set had been created just for me and for this demonstration.

The Veil (a message from the guides)

This morning I was given a message about the Veil. They said “It’s like a governor or set of filters” and they used the analogy of a database for me, with the veil between me and the database.

“The veil is there to protect you and help you manage an energetic presence on earth.”

Then they provide this example. If a tree falls in the forest, does anyone hear it? Then said “You would hear it, but it’s veiled” Going on to say “The earth plane is too heavy and dense for you to know all of it. Things have to be filtered, unlike other experiences you have known elsewhere.”

Winter Tapestries

This story is about a beautiful boreal (style) forest in Nepean (Ontario). It was a cold, wet day in March and I was walking with our dog, who always tags along.

This forest has many interesting features and many mysteries. If you’re quiet and listening, she will share her magic and tell her stories.

On this particular afternoon, I was in a low-lying area on the eastern edge of the forest. It was raining lightly after a bit of mild weather that had thawed some of the snow cover, bringing fresh water into the basins and creaks, filling puddles along the trail.

Is Nature Changing

Cardinal (bird) sitting in a snowy tree

We witness ourselves change but do we see all the changes happening all around us?

I am fascinated with nature and always trying to bring it closer to home. Sometimes to close!

This is why I feed birds all year round. There’s nothing better than hearing songbirds in summer or watching a pair of tiny sparrows play in the snow of a hedge.
